There are three main cabinetry styles: Traditional, Transitional, and Contemporary. Click to explore examples of each style.
Design Elements - Cabinetry doors with traditional raised panels, elaborate profiles or large applied moldings, ornamental crown molding, classic stains and colors, detailed craftsmanship, and traditional lighting. This style is typically made of natural materials.
Design Elements - Cabinetry doors with simple profile, crown molding with very little ornamentation, or no molding at all, neutral color palettes, mix of natural and manufactured materials, clean lines in craftsmanship, traditional, industrial, or modern lighting.
Design Elements - Modern, minimalist and geometric cabinets with horizontal lines, asymmetry and a lack of molding and other ornamentation. Materials often are man-made rather than natural: stainless steel, laminate, frosted glass inserts, concrete, linoleum, chrome and lacquer.
By understanding the three basic cabinet construction methods: stock cabinets, quick-ship cabinets, and special order cabinets, you’ll have a solid foundation to decide which works best for your space. The differences are based on choice of style, color, design and project timeline, not on quality or price.
Stock cabinets are pre-constructed, available in a limited range of standardized sizes. We offer several door styles and colors to choose from; but since the cabinets are pre-fabricated, you won’t be able to mix and match the door style and color or modify the width, height, or depth to any cabinet. In general, stock cabinets are going to be your least expensive option.
We're proud to offer a variety of quick-ship cabinetry door styles. These cabinets are entirely constructed and assembled in house,. They are cost-effective and available to take home in just 1-2 weeks. Visit a showroom location to learn more about this option and see examples of our quick-ship cabinetry on display.
There are two kinds of special order cabinets: semi-custom and custom. Semi-custom allows you specify width, height, and debths of the cabinet boxes by standardized increments - typically in 1” - 1”. With custom cabinets, anything is possible. Sizes, colors, and styles are unlimited. Each cabinet is built one-of-a-kind, handcrafted from scratch which allows you complete freedom in the design. colors are applied by hand and custom components are built by master craftsman. You also have a wider range of materials to choose from for your door styles. NOTE: Special Order cabinets are generally more expensive due to the customizations, and have a longer lead time than stock or quick-ship cabinets.
